Who is the Instructor?

Ben Greenfield is an expert bio-hacker, fitness coach, and best-selling author of several books on fitness including Beyond Training and Boundless Cookbook. His focus on fitness without compromising health is the greatest strength of his “The Longevity Blueprint” Mindvalley class. Giving in to the fitness craze and ignoring the body’s limit is often easy. Fortunately, Ben doesn’t propagate that.

Pros and Cons

Lombardi said, “Perfection is not attainable, but if we chase perfection, we can catch excellence.” Does the Mindvalley human longevity class attain excellence? If so, what makes it fall short of perfection? You merely have to glance at the following table to determine the answer.

What I like about
Practical exercises.
Inspiring instructor.
Handy exercise video guides.
Realistic workout plans.
Long-term benefits.
The choice between Light and All-In track.
Various alternative exercises are presented, making it a flexible program.
Downsides I See
Not everyone has the time to adhere to this seven-week program.
Membership cost is high.
People may find it difficult to pass the fitness test if they don’t train progressively.

Who is this Quest for?

Although the site claims the quest is for everyone, this Mindvalley longevity documentary is best for rookies and intermediate fitness enthusiasts. Newbies will learn a variety of exercises and their benefits. Those already familiar with the exercises will know how to space them out and integrate them into their schedules.

What You’ll Learn

Image depicting what The Longevity Blueprint quest is all about.

This 19-hour and 36-minute Mindvalley longevity masterclass is all about getting the body form you want and living a long life through the power of exercise. The important thing to note is that Longevity doesn’t refer to just living long, but also living healthy. And, Beauty refers to optimal muscle mass, cardiovascular fitness, and ideal body fat.

The program has daily, weekly, and periodic practices/tasks that you need to complete to gain the promised results. Greenfield is excellent at teaching us to use various exercises, postures, and, to some extent, yoga without risking injury or burnout. The critical concepts you will learn in this class are strength-to-muscle mass ratio, mobility, stamina (burning your body fat as fuel), cardiovascular endurance, recovery, and mitochondrial density (built through HIIT with long recovery periods).

Longevity Blueprint Daily Tasks

Ben emphasized you don’t have to look like traditional bodybuilders to build strength. Instead, the focus will be on building toned, lean, and explosive muscle fibers. Super-slow training, Big 5 (horizontal push, horizontal pull, vertical push, vertical pull, and leg press), isometric training, and Tabata sets 1 & 2 are exciting to learn and comfortable to practice if you are already familiar with them.

We also learn the foam-roller routine (my favorite because it’s the easiest to do), HIIT, core foundation training, full-body range of motion (ROM) exercises, and the ultimate efficient bodyweight workout. Ben discusses the various ways to keep track of necessary markers like muscle mass, body fat percentage, heart rate variability, etc. Another instructor, Ronan Diego de Oliveira, teaches us how to track our fitness progress and adjust routines based on the results.

Ben greenfield Full-Body ROM Routine

I liked Week 5 (Life Stamina) best. You learn the 4 plank variations, some Yoga postures, and the HIIT sprint. I could do the traditional plank for all of 40 seconds in my glory days. I know it’s pathetic. Now I can’t even hold for 20 seconds. I envy this guy; he makes it look so effortless.

All the demos are impressive. And, the exercise guiding videos are great. But for the life of me, I couldn’t stop laughing when he started the lunges. He did it perfectly, but the image of Joey doing lunges while wearing Chandler’s clothes flashed in my mind. My brain can be weird at times; I am mentioning it in case you haven’t made that brilliant deduction yet.

Exercise Guides in Longevity Blueprint

The program also has 3 recorded Q&A sessions and 2 bonus materials (Nutritional Guidelines and Establishing Lifelong Healthy Sleeping Habits) you can watch. Later, Ben explains the benefits of choosing a sport that challenges the body and the mind (ideally, something your brain isn’t familiar with). He also discusses the value of 60 – 90 minute deep tissue massage. It is effective for recovery and lasting health.

What I loved about the program was the option to choose between the Light (lesser time commitment) and the All-In tracks. The final week is for reviewing what you learned and integrating them into your routine. Ben also teaches you to design a routine you are willing to follow. Alternatively, you can download the 3 types of workout program templates – all-around, strength, and cardio fitness – if you’d rather stick with a plan the instructors recommend.

The final instruction? Test your fitness level every month. The fitness test consists of four basic exercises you learn at the very beginning of the quest: push-ups, squats, plank, and burpees. Don’t let your fitness craze affect your longevity. Be fit and healthy.

What Practical Results Should You Expect?

If nothing else, you would have developed the practice of exercising daily by the end of the program. You will be able to handle rigorous training routines and learn to push boundaries if you take to the program like a duck to water. All this is possible even if you don’t have fitness equipment at home or visit the gym often. Most importantly, exercising won’t feel like a chore.

What Others Say

To ensure a comprehensive review of Mindvalley’s Longevity quest, I gathered insights from friends who have completed the program and analyzed reviews from others. Here’s what their collective perspectives unveil.

People are generally satisfied and content with the program. The easy-to-pick-up exercises and techniques make the lessons interesting even for lazy gooses like me who don’t want to roll out of bed even when the sun is shining fully on their faces. The most appreciated thing about the quest is the ability to lose pounds and still build strength. Who wouldn’t want the strength of the Hulk while looking like Agent Romanoff?

Final Verdict: Is Mindvalley Longevity Blueprint Worth It?

Yes, The Longevity Blueprint is worth taking if you want to build the habit of exercising without risking injury. The follow-along workout videos are fantastic to keep you motivated. However, you may not like it much if you have limited time to adhere to the program. The light track helps cut down the time required. Nevertheless, even that can be overwhelming for novices.

FAQs

1. Does Ben Greenfield’s Longevity Blueprint deliver on its promises?

Obviously, you will shed those extra pounds if exercise is a daily routine in your life. As Ben helps you work out without pushing the body beyond its limits, your health will also be unscathed. So, yeah; the blueprint works.

2. What can I do if I can’t complete the tasks assigned in time?

There is no penalty for not completing a task. Just ensure you complete the next one. You can always revisit the incomplete tasks. All that matters is the willingness to stick with the program and integrate what you learn into your life.

3. Do I need fitness equipment to complete the program?

Not necessarily. You can do most exercises without fitness equipment. Ben provides a list of alternative exercises (that don’t require equipment) for the ones that need some sort of equipment. At most, you will need an exercise band and a dumbbell or two.
