What Information We Collect

We collect two types of information — what you actively give us, and what is automatically recorded when you use the site.

A. Information you give us voluntarily

  • Email address — if you contact us or, when launched, sign up for our newsletter
  • Your name — if you include it in a contact form or email message
  • Message content — anything you write when reaching out to us

We do not collect payment information directly. Any purchases made through our affiliate links are processed entirely by the destination platform under their own privacy policy.

B. Information collected automatically

When you visit answersQ, the following data is collected automatically by us and our third-party analytics service (Google Analytics):

Data Collected by Purpose Personally identifiable?
IP address Google Analytics Traffic analysis No — anonymised by default
Browser type & version Google Analytics Performance optimisation No
Operating system Google Analytics Device compatibility No
Pages visited & time on page Google Analytics Content improvement No
Referring website Google Analytics Traffic source analysis No
Device type Google Analytics Layout & UX improvement No

How We Use Your Information

We use data collected only for the purposes listed below. We do not use it for anything else.

We use your data to:

  • Understand which content is useful so we can improve it
  • Respond to your contact messages and enquiries
  • Send newsletters to subscribers — coming soon, not yet active
  • Maintain and improve the performance and security of the website
  • Comply with legal obligations where required

We do not:

  • Sell your personal data to any third party — ever
  • Use your data to build advertising profiles
  • Share your data with brands, platforms, or companies we review or write about
  • Send marketing emails unless you have explicitly subscribed
Data minimisation: We only collect what we actually need. We don’t ask for your phone number, date of birth, location, or any other information that isn’t necessary for you to use answersQ.

Cookies & Tracking Technologies

Cookies are small text files stored on your device. We use them to make the site work, understand how it is used, and serve relevant ads (currently being phased out). Here is exactly what we use:

Cookie Provider Type Purpose Duration
_ga, _gid Google Analytics Analytics Tracks sessions & page views 2 yrs / 24 hrs
_gat Google Analytics Analytics Rate-limits tracking requests 1 minute
AdSense cookies Google AdSense Advertising Display ad serving (phasing out) Varies
Cookie consent answersQ Functional Stores your cookie preference 12 months
Affiliate tracking Course platforms Third-party Commission attribution on click Varies by platform

How to control cookies

You can manage or disable cookies at any time through your browser settings. Most browsers let you view, block, or delete cookies from specific sites. Disabling analytics cookies will not affect your ability to use answersQ, but we won’t be able to improve the site based on how you use it.

Third-Party Services

We use several external services that may independently collect data about your visit. We name every one of them below — no vague “we may use third-party services” language.

Google Analytics Analytics
Tracks page views, session duration, and traffic sources to help us improve content. IP anonymisation is enabled. Data is retained for 26 months (Google’s default). Google Privacy Policy ↗
Google AdSense Advertising · Phasing out
Serves display ads on some pages. We are removing AdSense from the site over the next 3–6 months. Until then, ads may use cookies to show relevant content. Manage ad preferences ↗
Affiliate Platforms Coursera, Udemy, Amazon & others
When you click an affiliate link, the destination platform sets its own cookies for commission tracking. answersQ only receives an anonymous notification that a commission was earned — not your personal data. See our Full Disclosure Policy ↗
YouTube Embedded Video
Where we embed YouTube videos, Google/YouTube may collect data when you interact with them, even if you do not press play. This is governed by Google’s privacy policy. Google Privacy Policy ↗
Social Media Facebook, Instagram, X, LinkedIn, Telegram
We maintain social pages on these platforms. Clicking our social links or interacting with our content there is governed by each platform’s own privacy policy. We do not receive personal data about you from these interactions.

Affiliate Links & Third-Party Privacy

answersQ uses affiliate links. When you click one, you leave answersQ and arrive at a third-party website. That platform handles your data under its own privacy policy — not ours.

  • Clicking an affiliate link sets tracking cookies from the destination platform
  • answersQ receives anonymous commission attribution only — not your name, email, or payment details
  • We do not pass any personal data about you to affiliate partners
  • The destination platform’s privacy policy governs everything that happens after you click
For a full explanation of our affiliate relationships and how we ensure they don’t affect our editorial independence, see our Full Disclosure Policy.

Newsletter & Email Communications

Coming soon — not yet active. Our email newsletter is in planning. No email list is currently in operation. This section explains what will apply when it launches.

When the newsletter launches

  • Subscription will be entirely voluntary — no content will be paywalled behind signing up
  • We will use a third-party email service provider to manage subscriptions and send emails
  • Every email will include a clear, one-click unsubscribe option
  • We will never share your email address with third parties for marketing purposes
  • We will update this policy with the provider name and full details before the newsletter goes live

Contact emails

If you email us at enquireanswersq@gmail.com, we store your email address only to respond to your enquiry. We do not add contact emails to any mailing list, and we delete them once the matter is resolved.

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the questions we get most often about data and privacy on answersQ.

No — never. answersQ does not sell, rent, or trade your personal data to any third party. The only data we share is anonymous analytics with Google Analytics (no personal identifiers), and anonymous commission attribution data with affiliate platforms. Neither includes your name, email, or any information that identifies you personally.
You are taken to a third-party website (such as Coursera, Udemy, or Amazon) which handles your data under its own privacy policy. That platform may set tracking cookies to record the referral. answersQ only receives an anonymous notification that a commission was earned — we do not receive your name, email address, or payment details. See our Full Disclosure Policy for more detail.
Yes. Email enquireanswersq@gmail.com to request deletion of any personal data we hold — such as emails from a contact enquiry. We will confirm deletion within 7 working days. For data held by Google Analytics, use the Google Analytics opt-out tool. For affiliate platform data, contact those platforms directly under their own policies.
We currently run Google AdSense display ads on some pages, which may use cookies to show relevant ads. We are in the process of removing AdSense from the site over the next 3–6 months. We do not build our own advertising profiles, we do not sell data to advertisers, and we do not use your browsing behaviour on answersQ to target you with ads elsewhere.
answersQ is based in India but respects the privacy rights of all readers globally. UK/EU readers — under GDPR you have the right to access, correct, erase, and port your data, withdraw consent at any time, and complain to the ICO (UK) ↗. California readers — under CCPA you have the right to know what data is collected, request deletion, and opt out of data sale (we don’t sell data). Indian readers — under the DPDP Act 2023 you have the right to access, correct, and erase your data and seek grievance redressal. For all regions, email enquireanswersq@gmail.com to exercise your rights.
